Join the African American Clergy Collective of Tennessee in taking ACTION for Gun Violence Prevention

Gun Violence Press Conference

Join the African American Clergy Collective of Tennessee (ACCT), the American Academy of Pediatrics, Tennessee Chapter (TNAAP), and other organizations around Gun Violence Prevention (GVP) in Tennessee.

As you may be aware, in 2020, gun violence became the leading cause of death in the United States for children aged 1 to 19.   In Tennessee, overall, gun-related deaths increased by 52% between 2012 and 2022 (13% higher than the national rate), and Tennessee has the 9th highest rate of gun violence in the country and ranks 12th in gun-related deaths per 1,000.

Our goal is to support a public health approach to this crisis and launch a joint campaign to support policies that reduce gun violence.  By coming together to organize our efforts, we will amplify our voices to influence policymakers to act and make our communities safer.

Combining the reach of each of our organizations in a strategic long-term effort can have a significant impact in helping the majority of Tennesseans who support reform vocalize their concerns and take steps to influence change.

Join us in taking action to prevent gun violence.

Join the African American Clergy Collective of Tennessee, the Tennessee Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and ForwardTN as we come together to create safe communities by addressing gun violence as a public health crisis.
